Biography 
Although Mr. Tankersley handles a broad range of matters within his practice areas, he has special expertise in partnership transactions, real estate syndications, acquisitions, and commercial loan transactions. He also represents taxpayers in disputes with federal and state tax authorities, both at the administrative and trial levels. He is a frequent discussion leader or speaker at continuing legal education seminars sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Bar Association.

Mr. Tankersley is a Greensboro native. He received his undergraduate degree from Furman University. After working for the Internal Revenue Service for two years, he attended law school at the University of North Carolina where he was an honors graduate. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

    • Awards/Honors
    Mr. Tankersley was inducted into the Order of the Coif, and he served on the North Carolina Law Review. He has served as a council member of both the Tax Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Tax Section of the NCACPA, and is a member and former chairman of the NCACPA Symposium Committee, the NCACPA Facilities Committee and the NCACPA Student Recruitment Task Force. He also is a former member of the Board of Directors of the NCACPA. Mr. Tankersley is also the recipient of the NCACPA's Outstanding Speaker Award and the Raymond Raines Lifetime Achievement Award.
