Biography Elizabeth J. Zook is a senior associate with Carruthers & Roth and practices in the areas of commercial real estate and commercial transactions. Elizabeth counsels shopping centers, office buildings and apartment complex owners and operators, as well as individual landowners, in acquisitions, dispositions, leasing transactions and financings. She also handles foreclosures for a national banking association and a variety of commercial financing transactions for a number of institutional lenders.
Elizabeth graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2003 and went on to New York University School of Law to complete her master of laws degree in taxation.
Her journey to her current position started with a temp job as a receptionist in a law firm. She says they trained her to be a paralegal and she loved it so much she decided to go to law school.
Elizabeth likes commercial real estate and says, "it’s always a challenge and I'm always learning something new." Her clients are all over the country and she says that on most occasions she corresponds with them via e-mail and fax: "Ten years ago you would get on a plane and sit down with a client to close a deal, now all that has changed."
If she weren't practicing law, Elizabeth says she would be teaching English. "I have a fantasy of writing a book," she says.
Elizabeth is an active member of the Young Lawyers Division of the Greensboro Bar Association and is a lifetime member of the Sierra Club. Naturally, she enjoys camping and hiking.
