Biography 
Nicholas J. Bakatsias is an associate with Carruthers & Roth and focuses his practice on taxation and business law. He has experience in representing closely held businesses and formulating tax-planning strategies for individuals and various business entities. He also works in the field of mergers and acquisitions, assisting in corporate reorganizations for a range of clients.

Nick joined the firm upon receiving his Masters in Taxation in 2006. After his advanced concentration in taxation, Nick enjoys working with clients on their tax planning strategies. "Tax is like a puzzle and I enjoy working through the different outcomes to arrive at the best solution for our clients," he says.

Nick was born and raised in Burlington, North Carolina and grew up working in his family owned and operated business that reaches from Alamance to Orange counties. It was Carruthers & Roth's thorough knowledge in closely held businesses that attracted Nick to the firm. Today, he remains an active voice in his family's operations which continues to expand and grow.

    Community Involvement
    Nick has been recognized for his participation with NC LEAP, a statewide pro bono business and transactional law program for low-wealth, small business owners. He continues to support the program's ongoing workshops, programs and initiatives. In addition, he frequently supports the Young Lawyers Division's community efforts and has participated in Ask a Lawyer Day, Wills for Heroes, and Urban Ministry Services Day.
