GREENSBORO, N.C. – Carruthers & Roth, P.A. recently held a second internal food drive to benefit BackPack Beginnings and donated more than 6,000 food items and $1,500 to the local nonprofit that delivers child-centric services to feed, comfort and clothe children in need.
In May, Carruthers & Roth’s first food drive collected more than 1,000 food items which were donated to support BackPack Beginnings and its COVID-19 response efforts.
As Guilford County children headed back to school and most remotely due to COVID-19, Carruthers & Roth wanted to do something again to support the community. “We decided to host another food drive to benefit BackPack Beginnings, recognizing the continued negative impact COVID-19 has had on food access and food security, especially for school-age children,” said Chris Vaughn, Managing Director of Carruthers & Roth. “I’m pleased to say we surpassed the goal we set for food donations.”
The attorneys and staff collected non-perishable items and monetary donations during the month of September and set a goal of collecting 2,000 food items, double the amount of food items brought in from the first food drive.
The firm ended up tripling their goal of 2,000 food items and collected more than 6,000 food items and also collected $1,500 in monetary donations.
