Ron Johnson Named to Icons & Phenoms List by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly

GREENSBORO, N.C. –Carruthers & Roth is proud to announce that Ron Johnson was named to the 2024 Icons & Phenoms list by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly. He and 33 other honorees were recognized at an awards luncheon on June 13th in Raleigh.

Johnson was selected to the publication’s “icons” list which recognizes attorneys who have been practicing for at least 30 years and who have demonstrated notable, sustained success and strong leadership within their legal practice and the community. Johnson was nominated by his peers and selected by a panel of judges from the publication’s editorial team.

At Carruthers & Roth, Johnson focuses his practice on estate planning, estate administration, business law and nonprofit corporations. He is board certified in estate planning and probate law and is a former board member and past president of the Greensboro Estate Planning Council. Johnson was recently inducted into the North Carolina Bar Association’s Legal Practice Hall of Fame.

“In my 50 years of practicing law, I have represented innumerable families and now have represented as many as three generations of dozens of families in the greater Greensboro area,” Johnson told North Carolina Lawyers Weekly in a June 2024 Icons & Phenoms special edition. “I have helped literally thousands of people with estate planning, and I think I have made a difference in the Triad.”

In addition to his commitment to his profession, Johnson is well-known for his commitment to the broader community. He has been honored by many charitable and civic organizations for his service, including the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, Family Services of the Piedmont, Triad Health Project, Guilford Green Foundation, the Human Rights Campaign, Planned Parenthood, AuthoraCare Collective, Women’s Resource Center of Greensboro, and Greensboro Commission on the Status of Women.

Johnson is also known for his ability to lead successful community fundraising campaigns. He has raised more than $1 million to support the Triad Health Project and has received a Greensboro Philanthropist of the Year Award from the Triad Society of Professional Fundraisers.

Before joining Carruthers & Roth, Johnson was a founding member of Johnson Peddrick & McDonald, a Greensboro-based law firm. He and his partners joined Carruthers & Roth in 2021.
