GREENSBORO, N.C.J. Scott Dillon, director and shareholder of Carruthers & Roth, P.A., was recently honored with the 2013 Distinguished Service Award from the Business Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. The annual award recognizes an attorney who demonstrates extraordinary leadership and service to the Business Law Section. Christopher Capel, the chair of the section, talked about Scott’s contributions in the section’s April newsletter, “This was significant project to our section, and it came together thanks to Scott’s great leadership, creativity and diligence.”

At Carruthers & Roth, Scott has a broad-based business, tax and estate planning practice, with a particular emphasis on buying and selling businesses and the development and management of qualified retirement plans and employee benefits. His clients include a wide variety of closely-held, family-owned businesses – from medical practices to construction firms.

Scott received his bachelor’s degree from N.C. State University and earned his law degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He currently chairs the Business Contract Form Committee of the Business Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. Scott has been recognized by publications such as Best Lawyers in America and Business North Carolina magazine’s “Legal Elite.” He was recently named “Greensboro Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law Lawyer of the Year,” for 2013 by Best Lawyers.
