June L. Basden is both an attorney and a Certified Public Accountant with over 35 years of experience in commercial finance and insolvency law. She represents national, regional and community banks, financial institutions and commercial lenders in a variety of finance transactions, with a special focus on commercial lending and creditors’ rights. June has extensive experience in asset-based lending, factoring, loan workouts and modifications, foreclosures, bankruptcies and commercial real estate transactions. She received her B.S., summa cum laude, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1983 and her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill in 1986.

J. Scott Dillon is the senior attorney in Carruthers & Roth’s Business, Tax and Estates department. He has a broad-based business, corporate, and transactional practice that includes handling personal and estate-related matters for the owners and their families. Scott has 40 years of experience dealing with legal issues affecting businesses and counseling with business owners on such matters, as well as drafting and negotiating business contracts. He is the go-to attorney at the firm on matters relating to the design and operation of qualified retirement plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, employee benefits, and self-directed IRA transactions. Scott earned his B.A., cum laude, from North Carolina State University in 1979 and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill in 1983.

Richard L. Vanore is a 50-year litigator experienced in professional malpractice, health law, personal injury, commercial disputes and other areas of civil litigation. As a core member of the Carruthers & Roth Healthcare and Litigation practice teams, he works closely with insurance companies, physicians, dentists, hospitals, individuals, real estate developers and property owners. Richard is also certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission to conduct Mediated Settlement Conferences in Superior Court cases and utilizes his litigation experience to assist conflicting parties in resolving their disputes through effective facilitation. Richard’s experience in the healthcare arena makes him a sought-after speaker. He has presented to a variety of healthcare industry organizations, associations, corporations and physician groups. Richard earned an A.B. in Mathematics at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1969 and his J.D. with Honors also from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1973, where he was on the UNC Law Review and inducted into the Order of the Coif.
